Gaoyue is an evergreen shrub of the Ericaceae family. It grows naturally in the Rocky Mountains along the river banks west of the Kanto region and has been cultivated for ornamental purposes since ancient times. Satsuki Yuki is the abbreviation of "サツキツツジ".
