PLAN+T BONSAI Basic Daily Care

Every environment is different, so the following care methods are for reference only. Please adjust them according to your specific circumstances to ensure the health and beauty of your bonsai.

All bonsai available for sale on the website are already established in their pots. BONSAI bonsai plants are living things; please take good care of them. Any plant needs time to adapt to a new environment; diffused sunlight and appropriate humidity are the best conditions for bonsai to adapt. If you find any unhealthy leaves, it is recommended to remove them. Removing old leaves will help new leaves grow, and appropriate leaf removal can also reduce nutrient consumption.

  • Summer Care

In summer, avoid placing bonsai in direct sunlight, especially at midday, to prevent leaf burn. You can place the bonsai in a shaded area or use shade netting.

  • Suitable for flowering bonsai

Flowers should be removed promptly after they have faded, otherwise they will continue to deplete the plant's nutrients. Furthermore, if faded flowers are not removed, the resulting water accumulation can easily lead to fungal infections.

  • Each time watering

Water only when the water drains from the bottom of the pot; this method is suitable for small bonsai. Water only when the soil is almost dry. Since different environmental locations will affect the frequency of watering, the interval between waterings cannot be fixed and should be determined based on the dryness of the soil. Place the bonsai in a well-ventilated area. Note: Water only when the soil is almost dry; otherwise, root rot can easily occur, leading to the plant's death.

  • Methods to determine if soil is dry

1. Observe the soil color: When the soil turns a lighter color, it indicates that it is dry.
2. Press the soil with your hand: feel if the soil is moist.
3. Compare weight: The weight will be different before and after watering.

  • Fertilization

(Seasonal fertilization: Fertilize in spring and autumn. No fertilization is needed in summer and winter.)

Fertilize bonsai appropriately, especially flowering bonsai, as this will help the flowers grow. Do not fertilize when the plant is unhealthy (e.g., with many withered leaves), as fertilization may damage the roots. Fertilize only after the plant has recovered. Besides ruling out bacterial infection, withered leaves may be caused by overwatering or underwatering, insufficient sunlight, or poor ventilation. Please check these three aspects to see if there are any areas that need improvement.
