The bonsai pictured is the actual tree offered for sale. One of a kind.
A rugged, powerful trunk gives black pine the presence of a tree shaped by time.
Japanese black pine (Pinus thunbergii), sometimes called the masculine pine or the king of bonsai, is valued by collectors. Mikawa, Shikoku and Genkai black pines are among the familiar selections.
Its composed, strong silhouette brings character to an entrance, desk or balcony with suitable growing conditions.
Tree profile
A meaningful gift
Longevity · Resilience · Prosperity
Black pine is traditionally associated with longevity and resilience. In feng shui, it represents protection, positive energy and good fortune, making it a meaningful gift for a promotion, business anniversary, Father’s Day or an elder’s birthday.
The beauty of the tree
Deep green needles grow in pairs above rough, dark bark. A powerful trunk and clearly layered branches create the mature character associated with Japanese black pine bonsai.
Care guide
☀️ Light
Provide ample sunlight and protect the rootball from extremes of heat and cold. Adjust care to the actual growing conditions.
💧 Watering
Check the soil and water thoroughly as it begins to dry. Avoid prolonged waterlogging and use a freely draining bonsai growing medium.
🌬️ Airflow
Maintain good airflow around the canopy, particularly during Hong Kong’s hot, humid weather.
✂️ Pruning and feeding
Assess needle thinning according to vigour and canopy density. Feed healthy growth according to the fertiliser label.
