Form & character | Winding deadwood and layered foliage

The trunk winds upward from the soil, with pale deadwood tracing its curves against darker bark. Dense green foliage spreads in layers on both sides, while a lower branch on the left creates an asymmetrical outline. Open spaces between the foliage reveal the trunk and the deadwood at the apex.

What to appreciate

Follow the pale deadwood from the base upward, then look through the spaces between the foliage pads. The spreading canopy, visible trunk line and rectangular pot create a balanced composition, with layered branches revealing different details from each angle.

Care guide

Light

Provide ample light. Assess an indoor window position and add a suitable plant grow light if natural light is insufficient.

Watering

Check the soil as the surface begins to dry, then water thoroughly until it drains from the pot. Adjust to soil moisture and avoid standing water.

Airflow

Maintain good air circulation indoors and outdoors. Check inside dense foliage and keep drainage clear.

Placement

Adjust care to the position, weather and tree condition. Acclimatise gradually to outdoor sunlight; indoors, provide a bright window, suitable supplemental light and airflow.
